And so it begins…

#ibmcsc
This morning I woke up at sparrow fart to begin the long journey to Salta, Argentina. I’m not sure what the next four weeks will bring, but I am approaching it with trepidation and excitement.
As someone who travels a lot, I can’t quite put my finger on what is causing the apprehension, whether it is leaving behind my brand new wife Amy, or that it is my first time heading onto the South American continent, or that I really don’t know what I’ll be doing from one day to the next.

About a week ago I watched The secret life of Walter Mitty. Besides being an inspirational travel movie, I’ve chosen the music from the movie to begin the sound track to this journey. I only hope I can live up to the Life magazine motto popularised by the movie:

To see things thousands of miles away, things hidden behind walls and within rooms.
Things dangerous to come to, to draw closer, to see and be amazed and to feel.
That is the purpose of life.

I’m going to do my best to keep this blog updated while away. My time with the IBM CSC has been assigned to Foundation Anpuy, and you can read more about them here.

Wish me luck, and speak again in 24-48hrs time from the other side of the Pacific (and maybe even the Andes).
